Terms of Service
Last updated: June 1, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Mila. By creating an account, ticking the agreement box at sign-up, or using the service in any way, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Mila.
2. What Mila is
Mila is an AI companion that listens, reflects, and helps you think through life in a new country. Mila is a software product — not a person, not a professional, and not a service provider regulated by any government body.
3. Not legal, immigration, medical, financial, or tax advice
This is the most important part of these Terms — please read it carefully.
Mila's responses are generated by large language models. They may be incomplete, out-of-date, wrong, or invented. Nothing Mila says is legal, immigration, visa, medical, mental health, financial, tax, or investment advice. Mila is not your attorney, immigration consultant, doctor, therapist, accountant, or financial advisor, and using Mila does not create any professional or fiduciary relationship.
Immigration rules, tax law, healthcare rights, and benefits eligibility change frequently and vary by country, state, and personal circumstance. Always confirm anything important with a qualified, licensed professional in the relevant jurisdiction before acting on it. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number or a licensed crisis service — Mila is not a crisis hotline.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) to use Mila.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and account secure.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to update it when it changes.
- You will not share your account, impersonate someone else, or attempt to bypass authentication.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Mila to:
- Break the law, infringe rights, or harm others.
- Generate or solicit illegal content, content sexualising minors, or content that promotes self-harm or violence.
- Probe, scrape, reverse-engineer, or overload the service.
- Provide professional advice to third parties using Mila's output.
- Submit other people's personal data without a lawful basis.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Statutory consumer-protection rights, including the EU 14-day right of withdrawal where it applies, remain available.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you share with Mila. You grant Mila a worldwide, royalty-free licence to process your content solely to operate, secure, and improve the service for you. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train third-party foundation models.
8. Privacy and consent
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PDPA, LGPD, and other regional laws. By ticking the agreement box at sign-up you confirm that you have read it, that you consent to the processing described there, and — where required by your local law — that you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the countries listed in that policy.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that pose a risk to other users or to the service.
10. Disclaimers
Mila is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that Mila will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output will be correct.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mila and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Mila is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence continue to apply.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
